Danny Garcia and Chris Colbert got themselves back into the win column on Saturday, but neither fighter was able to crack the rankings this week.

Garcia’s fourth-round destruction of Danny Gonzalez in his “Farewell to Brooklyn” served as the perfect sendoff to his time fighting at Barclays Center as he bounced back from his 2024 stoppage loss to Erislandy Lara. But considering the level of his opponent, Garcia’s knockout win wasn’t enough for him to enter the rankings at 154 pounds. Garcia has teased retirement, but he may put those plans on hold after his performance on Saturday.

On the undercard, Colbert scored a unanimous decision win over Blas Ezequiel Caro after suffering back-to-back knockout losses to Jose Valenzuela in 2024 and Omar Salcido in 2023. The former WBA junior lightweight interim champion was sharp in victory, easily outpointing Caro. Colbert’s win isn’t enough to rank him at junior welterweight but could provide him momentum to make a run in the division.

The only ranked fighter to compete over the weekend was ESPN’s No. 7 junior lightweight, Andres Cortez, who rolled past Derlyn Hernandez-Gerarldo with a fourth-round stoppage. Cortez remains undefeated as he tore through Hernandez-Gerarldo with relative ease and is inching closer to a title fight. He stay at No. 7 with the victory.

ESPN’s divisional boxing rankings highlight the best in the sport in every weight class. Rankings will change based on recent results and performances. Fighters who have announced they are moving to a different weight class will be ranked in that new division, if warranted, only once they fight in that weight class. Fighters who currently own titles in two divisions can be ranked in both.

Fighters who haven’t competed in the past 12 months — and don’t have a fight scheduled — will be dropped from the rankings until they fight again. Any fighter who tests positive for a performance-enhancing substance will also be removed. That boxer will be eligible to reenter the rankings after his next bout.
