Bracketology: Michigan up, Duke down and UConn still No. 1 overall

By Charlie Creme Updated: 11/25/2025 at 9:10 a.m. ETAs the onslaught of Thanksgiving week tournaments and events arrive, the top teams in the bracket remain in place. The bubble, however, keeps shifting, and the strength of the SEC continues to grow. Bracketology captures all that and more with weekly updates each Tuesday.

Bracket WatchTop Overall SeedUConnFirst Team OutMiamiLast Team InVirginia TechSometimes, preseason expectations are spot-on. And sometimes, they are dramatically off. Take, for example, Michigan and Duke. The Wolverines were expected to contend for a top-four seed and the chance to host NCAA tournament games. But outside of Ann Arbor, there was no talk of a potential Big Ten title, Final Four or national championship. All of that is now on the table for Michigan after a 39-point destruction of Notre Dame followed by a near takedown of top-ranked UConn six days later. Duke, meanwhile, was pegged as a Final Four team (including by yours truly). But a stagnant offense and surprisingly inconsistent defense have resulted in three losses, including one against a significantly short-handed West Virginia and another by double digits to South Florida. Not only does Duke fall short of looking like an ACC contender, but after facing South Carolina and either Texas or UCLA in Las Vegas this week, the Blue Devils might not be in the bracket when December begins.
