What we’re hearing on the Texans: This week is most likely going to be the return of QB C.J. Stroud, who missed three games with a concussion. The Texans survived in his absence, going 3-0 as the defense and backup QB Davis Mills found ways to win. Now with Stroud back, Houston is primed to make a playoff run or even steal the division if it can beat the Colts in their two head-to-head matchups. — DJ Bien-Aime
Stat to know: Texans edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. has gone six straight games with a sack, tied with Mario Williams (2007) for second-longest streak in Texans history (J.J. Watt, seven straight spanning 2014-15 seasons). — ESPN Research
Bold prediction: Colts WR Alec Pierce will bounce back with a 40-plus-yard reception. While the Texans have good CBs, teams tend to attack them deep and outside: 19% of targets against Houston are at least 15 yards downfield and outside the numbers, the second-highest rate in the league. — Walder
Win for Jim: How the Colts carry on Jim Irsay’s legacy
Fantasy nugget: The Texans’ defense has not been kind to opposing QBs, allowing just 11.5 fantasy points per game, the fewest in the league. The Colts would be wise to lean heavily on Taylor on the ground. That approach could also create opportunities for TE Tyler Warren on play-action, where Jones has thrived. Only Matthew Stafford, Sam Darnold, Jared Goff, Caleb Williams and Drake Maye have more play-action passing yards than Jones in 2025. See Week 13 rankings. — Moody
Maldonado’s pick: Colts 22, Texans 10 Moody’s pick: Colts 24, Texans 19 Walder’s pick: Colts 23, Texans 17 FPI prediction: IND, 64.3% (by an average of 5.7 points)
Stat to know: The Panthers are 3-1 when QB Bryce Young records at least 6.0 yards per attempt. They are 3-4 when he records fewer than 6.0 YPA. — ESPN Research
Bold prediction: Young will make fewer than 10 first-half pass attempts. Not only are the Panthers one of the most run-heavy teams in the NFL with the second-lowest pass rate over expectation (minus-8%), per NFL Next Gen Stats, but the Rams’ defense has the third-lowest pass rate over expectation against them (minus-7%). — Walder
Fantasy nugget: Stafford is playing some of the best football of his career. He has scored at least 22 fantasy points in three of his past four games, including two with 26 or more. Stafford also has one of the league’s top WR duos in Puka Nacua and Adams, and he leads the league in red zone pass attempts. Even though the Panthers allow the ninth-fewest fantasy points per game to QBs, Stafford remains firmly on the QB1 radar this week. See Week 13 rankings. — Moody
Betting nugget: The Rams are 8-2 ATS as favorites, 4-1 ATS on the road and 4-0 ATS as road favorites. Read more. — ESPN Research
Maldonado’s pick: Rams, 27, Panthers 12 Moody’s pick: Rams 34, Panthers 20 Walder’s pick: Rams 27, Panthers 13 FPI prediction: LAR, 71.4% (by an average of 8.6 points)
Matchup must-reads: Young, Panthers can’t repeat mistakes against Rams … NFL suspends Panthers’ Moehrig one game for low blow
Stat to know: Cardinals TE Trey McBride has 13 straight games with five-plus catches, tied for the longest streak in franchise history (Larry Fitzgerald in 2008). — ESPN Research
Bold prediction: Buccaneers RB Bucky Irving will return with a bang, recording 100 or more rushing yards. Tampa Bay runs inside zone 30% of the time, fourth most, while the Cardinals have struggled against inside zone runs, allowing 5.0 yards per carry on those plays. — Walder
What Stephen A. expects from Shedeur against the 49ers
Stephen A. Smith is optimistic that Shedeur Sanders will play well against the 49ers.
Fantasy nugget: Wilson has exploded with elite volume, drawing 18 targets in Week 11 and 15 more in Week 12. He’s in another strong spot against a Bucs defense that allows the sixth-most receiving yards to wideouts. See Week 13 rankings. — Moody
Maldonado’s pick: Buccaneers 23, Cardinals 17 Moody’s pick: Cardinals 27, Buccaneers 17 Walder’s pick: Buccaneers 27, Cardinals 16 FPI prediction: TB, 62.9% (by an average of 5.2 points)
Stat to know: Browns edge Myles Garrett has 14.0 sacks in his past five games — the most sacks by any player over a five-game span since 1982 when player sacks became official. — ESPN Research
Bold prediction: Browns WR Jerry Jeudy will record six or more receptions, at least tying his season high. Jeudy has never had elite hands, but ESPN’s receiver scores give him a catch score of 2 — worst among all WRs or TEs. He should be better going forward. — Walder
Dolphins CB to McAfee: Things are starting to work the way they should for us
Fantasy nugget: The Browns’ defense allows the second-fewest fantasy points to RBs and leads the league in run stop win rate (36.2%), making this a tough rushing matchup for Christian McCaffrey. He has still scored at least 27 fantasy points in three of his past four games, even with only 3.7 yards per carry this season, because he’s done most of his damage as a receiver. McCaffrey has averaged 6.7 receptions and 65.4 receiving yards per game. See Week 13 rankings. — Moody
Betting nugget: The 49ers are 5-0 outright and 4-1 ATS against teams with losing records. Read more. — ESPN Research
Maldonado’s pick: 49ers 21, Browns17 Moody’s pick: 49ers 31, Browns 16 Walder’s pick: 49ers 23, Browns 7 FPI prediction: SF, 75.9% (by an average of 11 points)
What we’re hearing on the Titans: Ward continues to develop as a passer. He has led the Titans on late scoring drives to pull within one score in back-to-back games despite losing both. The Jaguars’ defense is allowing 9.6 points per game in the fourth quarter, 29th worst in the league. So this could be the week when Ward leads Tennessee on a late scoring drive that results in a win. — Turron Davenport
Stat to know: Ward set bests in Total QBR in each of the past two weeks (60.1 in Week 11; 75.1 in Week 12) after starting his career with nine straight games with a QBR under 40. — ESPN Research
Bold prediction: Jaguars WR Parker Washington will record his third career 90-plus-yard receiving game. Two of the three outside CBs the Titans have been playing in recent weeks — Darrell Baker Jr. and Jalyn Armour-Davis — are each allowing 1.5 yards per coverage snap, per NFL Next Gen Stats. That’s well above the 1.1 average for an outside corner. — Walder
Fantasy nugget: Travis Etienne Jr. and the Jaguars’ running game could take center stage behind an offensive line that ranks third in run block win rate (74.3%). They face a Titans defense that allows the fifth-most fantasy points per game to RBs. Etienne has averaged 20.5 touches and 18.0 fantasy points over his past four games. See Week 13 rankings. — Moody
Maldonado’s pick: Jaguars 28, Titans 27 Moody’s pick: Jaguars 25, Titans 13 Walder’s pick: Jaguars 24, Titans 14 FPI prediction: JAX, 66.9% (by an average of 6.9 points)
Matchup must-reads: Armstead is giving back to Jacksonville on and off field … Ward’s best game yet? No. 1 pick continues to progress … Jags’ Lawrence owns INTs but won’t ‘play scared’
What we’re hearing on the Jets: New York looks to improve to 3-0 against backup QBs as it faces Kirk Cousins. Chances are, this will come down to how well they defend RB Bijan Robinson. The Jets have allowed a league-low 2.7 yards per rush over the past two games, including a solid performance last week against Derrick Henry (64 yards on 21 carries). — Rich Cimini
Stat to know: The Falcons have recorded four straight games with at least five sacks. They look to become the fourth team since 1963 (when team sacks became official) with a five-game five-sack streak. — ESPN Research
Bold prediction: Jets OT Armand Membou will record a 100% pass block win rate. After starting the season on fire, Membou has settled in with a 91% pass block win rate that ranks 22nd out of 68 qualifiers. Leonard Floyd, who Membou should see more than anyone else, is an experienced pass rusher but not an elite threat. — Walder
