The Chicago Sky made a major splash on the first day of WNBA free agency signings, announcing they have signed seven-time All-Star Skylar Diggins as well as versatile forward Azura Stevens.
Diggins joins the Sky after spending the past two seasons with the Seattle Storm, while Stevens returns to Chicago after three years with the Los Angeles Sparks.
The Sky are revamping their roster this offseason after missing the playoffs for the second consecutive season. They traded two-time All-Star Angel Reese earlier this week to the Atlanta Dream for two first-round picks, re-signed center Elizabeth Williams for two years and now bring in Diggins and Stevens on multiyear deals. They also have the No. 5 pick in Monday’s draft.
The Sky have additionally acquired Jacy Sheldon, the 2024 No. 5 overall pick, from the Washington Mystics in exchange for their 2028 first-round pick. Chicago has four first-round selections over the next three drafts, but does not own any of their picks.
“Skylar is a player we have coveted for years. We are ecstatic to bring her to Chicago,” general manager Jeff Pagliocca said in a statement. “She is one of the all-time elite passers in our game and continues to play at a high level on both sides of the ball.”
A six-time All-WNBA selection, she compiled previous stints with the Phoenix Mercury (2020-23) and Tulsa Shock/Dallas Wings (2013-19), who drafted her No. 3 overall in 2013, and boasts career averages of 16.4 points, 5.3 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals.
Stevens, a 6-foot-6 post, played for the Sky from 2020 to 2022 and won a championship with them in 2021. She averaged a career-high 12.8 points (38.1% from 3), 8.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game with the Sparks in 2025, finishing second in Most Improved Player voting.
Stevens was drafted No. 6 overall in 2018 by the Dallas Wings out of UConn and was named to the All-Rookie Team that season. She was traded to Chicago in 2020. She won an Unrivaled championship with Rose BC in 2025.
