Reaction To Shedeur Sanders Having His Jersey Number Retired By Cleveland

Just finished watching the Browns and Panthers game. Shedeur Sanders got the start, and I’ll give the kid his due, he didn’t look half bad. Went 14 for 23 with 138 yards and a couple of touchdowns. A solid night’s work for a rookie.

Of course, the hype machine is already in full swing. And right on cue, I see news that his dad, “Prime Time” himself, is getting inducted into the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor.

Now, let me be clear: I loved watching Prime play for the Cowboys. The man was an incredible talent and helped win a Super Bowl. You can’t take that away from him.

But I’m starting to get a little confused. It feels like we were just talking about Shedeur getting his jersey retired up at Colorado after a good run. Now, right after his boy’s first pro game, Deion gets another big ceremony? I respect his career, but it feels like the Sanders family is on a world tour of collecting trophies and honors. It makes you wonder what’s genuine recognition and what’s just for show.

I’m happy for the guy, I suppose. He was a Cowboy, and he was great. But the timing of all this just feels… interesting.
